As a young boy, I viewed Saturn and its Rings through a telescope and was mesmerised. That moment triggered the beginning of a lifelong passion for exploring the skies.

Stargazing is not only about seeing beautiful objects, but of the amazing people who first looked upon them and were able to use what they saw to work out all sorts of amazing things.

The methods they employed were often astonishingly clever, and I became intrigued as to who these people were.

I am a Cartographer by profession; having also studied Astronomy at University – for the two sciences are intimately linked by their histories.

Looking skyward is only one of my interests, and I like to let my passion loose and share it on occasions. If you want to find out what excites a stargazer and get a better understanding of our wonderful night sky – come and join me.
